Teaching Positions Available (English & French Immersion)

Title:                           Teacher (English) - Alaqsite’w Gitpu School

Start Date:                August 2025

Term:                       1-Year Contract with possibility of becoming Full-Time

Salary:                        Based on the New Brunswick Salary Scale

Accountable to:      AGS Principal



Summary of Function:

Seeking an energetic, collaborative, lifelong learner to join our teaching staff in the recruiting language. Under the supervision of the School Principal, the Teacher is responsible for teaching students assigned to him/her in order to meet subject outcomes, standards and objectives that are set forth by the Listuguj Education Directorate. The Teacher will follow school rules, administrative directives, and maintain such records as required for the operation of the school and the classification and promotion of the students.


Job Duties:

  • Teach diligently and faithfully all subjects to be taught in the school, ensuring learning for all students.

  • Use teaching methods, procedures, and techniques appropriate to the learners.

  • Develop a general program for the Grade level assigned to him/her, which should include physical development, self-care, social and emotional development, and intellectual development.

  • Attend all staff meetings, Parent/Teacher meetings, and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) team meetings.

  • Supervise the students in the school and on school grounds in accordance with the schedule.

  • Teach subjects using a First Nations lens aligned with the Mi’gmaq Education Standards

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Education and/or Provincial Teaching Certification.

  • Must Submit a Criminal Records/Vulnerable Sector Check.


Competencies

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in French/English.

  • Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team or professional learning communities and maintain effective working relationships with multiple groups and individuals.

  • Excellent classroom management techniques that establish routines and provide structure in a classroom setting.
