Applications
Listuguj Mi’gmaq members interested in financial support must complete a funding application. Application can be found at www.listugujeducation.ca/post-secondary or
you can contact Christie Caplin-Isaac, Post-Secondary Manager at ccaplinisaac@lete.listuguj.ca.
In completing the application for funding;
Applications for financial support must be complete and signed by the Applicant.
Applications will not be processed until all documentation is received.
Applicants must notify the Post-Secondary Manager if they receive post-secondary funding from other sources (Provincial Funding, like OSAP, for example). Failure to disclose any such funding
may result in a termination of the PSSSP Agreement.
Scholarships, Bursaries, and Student Loans are not considered funding for the purposes of the Local Guidelines. Applicants are encouraged to take advantage of any and all supports that may exist to reach their academic goals.
Application Deadlines
Applications shall be considered in order of priority based upon the date of which a complete application, with all required accompanying documents, is received by the Post-Secondary Manager.
Deadline to submit completed applications:
May 31 Fall Enrollment (September - December)
November 15 Winter Enrollment (January - April)
March 31 Spring/Summer Enrollment (May - August)
Processing Applications
Upon receipt of an application the Post-Secondary Manager will review the application for eligibility. At the pre-screen stage, applications for programs that do not qualify will be screened out. Students will be notified as soon as possible after decision has been made.
We highly encourage all applicants to verify if their program & institution are eligible for funding prior to submitting application.
Processing Procedure:
The Post-Secondary Manager will review all Applications and supporting documentation to ensure all acceptance criteria established above have been satisfied.
Applications lacking supporting documentation will not be processed until all documentation is received.
Completed Applications will be date stamped upon receipt of all required documents into the office.
The Post-Secondary Manager will enter all financial estimates in the ALMASS system.
Aboriginal Labour Market Adaptation Support System
(ALMASS):a management tool that among many of its capabilities is used to track budgets and academic results of Students who participate Post-Secondary training. These are maintained by the Post-Secondary Manager.
Student Files using Applicant’s last name, first name, and school as identifying information are created for each application and supporting documentation.
After Applications have been processed, Applicants will be notified about the status of their funding within 2 weeks of the deadlines.
Approved Applications will be sent a copy of their Sponsorship Agreement (Appendix C) outlining responsibilities, financial schedule and student responsibilities. The Applicant must return the signed Agreement to the Post-Secondary Manager before funding is released.
Deferred Applications
In situations where there are more eligible Applications than funds available the applicant will be notified in writing. The application will be put on hold until the next available starting term, if funding permits. Applications will be considered on a first-come, first-serve basis.
If the applicant fails to maintain communication with the Post-Secondary Manager the application will be withdrawn.
Applications are valid for one (1) year only.
