Today, the Alaqsite'w Gitpu School commemorated our veterans and community members currently in service.
Opening remarks were made by our Mi'gmaq Immersion Principal, Jarrett Francis. His speech was entirely done in Mi'gmaq.
Chief Scott Martin gave respects to our veterans.
The honor Song was fiercely sung by Doug Pictou, while a small group of students took us by surprise and joined in loud and proud.
Nahla Barnaby aq Grace Condo read the Opening Prayer.
Charlie Pictou recited Na Maqamigeg Flanders.
Kaylee Willett aq Nahla Barnaby announced the Veterans Honor Roll.
The Ceremony ended with laying the wreath outside at our Veterans Memorial.
